EDUCATIONAL GOAL AND ADMIT TYPE EXPLANATIONS

Associate in Arts Degree (AA) - two-year program for students interested in continuing on to one of SJR State’s bachelor's programs or transferring to another public college or university.

Associate in Science Degree (AS) - two-year program designed to prepare students for employment in a chosen career or transition into a bachelor's program at SJR State.

Bachelor’s degrees (BS, BAS, BSN) - upper-level programs for students who have earned an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science, and wish to continue at SJR State.

Career Certificates* (CC) - non- college credit, clock hour programs providing hands-on training in technical fields.

College Credit Certificates* (CCC) - college credit programs for individuals wishing to spend two years or less preparing for entry into a career.

Dual Enrollment – taking college credit classes while still in high school. Dual Enrollment students do not require financial aid.

First Time in College – have not attended any college or university.

Florida School of the Arts two-year program to prepare for employment in a chosen career or seamless transition into a bachelor's program at SJR State, offering programs in performing arts (Acting, Musical Theater, Dance), technical theater (scenic, sound and lighting, Costume Design, Stage Management), and visual arts (Animation, Graphic/New Media Design, Photography, Studio Art), as well as Stage Technology.

Non-Degree* - take college credit courses for teacher certification/renewal, Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) or personal objectives without pursuing a degree.

Readmission – previously enrolled at SJR State, but have not attended in a 12 month period. Former Dual Enrollment students also need to submit a readmission application.

Transfer – previously attended another college or university and transferring to SJR State.

Transient (visiting) – taking college credit classes at SJR State while enrolled at another home institution.

*If you plan to use financial aid to pay for your courses, please review the program webpage before selecting a major. Non-degree seeking programs and some short-term programs are not eligible for financial aid.
